My main interests within architecture come from sustainable architectural design and exploring the barriers between the built form and the natural environment.
I joined Whittam Cox Architects after completing my Part 1 at Nottingham Trent University in 2018. Having taken a year out, I continued my studying and began my Part 2 at Sheffield Hallam University part time on the Apprenticeship Degree, which I completed in May this year. My main interests within architecture come from sustainable architectural design and exploring the barriers between the built form and the natural environment. Understanding how buildings impact the environment around us and finding ways whereby we can reduce the detrimental impact is important to me. Interest in this has helped form the backbone to my thesis project 'The Cities Portal'.

The Cities Portal re-imagines how new developments are designed, built and function in the City of Sheffield. The scheme is positioned as a design gateway to unlock sites for future development in Parkwood Springs along the river Don, identified by SCC for low carbon industry.
Too often the ecological aspects of a project are treated as a tick box exercise. My aim is to reverse this trend and place the ecological response at the forefront of the design process. The ambition of the scheme is to establish Sheffield as the gold standard for designing within expanding cities with areas of ecological importance and rich biodiversity. The proposal forms phase 1 of the development, with future phases following, as a result of the proposal, as new developments are built. Phase 1 is the starting point, forming a catalyst for change across PWS and Sheffield.
