A transparent space for the community to share experiences together.
I’m a second year student studying Architecture (BSc) at Sheffield Hallam University with previous experience working with bronze art casting and Non-destructive Testing. I’m particularly interested in low-cost environmental self-builds, which was one area of architecture which drew me in.

Within this project I was to design an intergenerational learning centre to act as a shared community space run by volunteers, I wanted to focus on creating a comfortable space for children and older generations to interact and learn together. The two main areas of the learning centre are the library to the South and the nursery to the North of the site, there are different break-out zones in between which would be used by both, including the reading room, workshop space, communal kitchen and dining area.
I intended to create a space which feels safe and contained but also provides the user with views out to nature and the surrounding environment, with high levels of natural daylight and natural ventilation.
