“To reimagine and redefine the relationship between humans, nature, and the built environment.”
Hi, I’m Chris, a Part II Architectural Assistant at Whittam Cox Architects. I’ve recently completed the Masters in Architecture at Sheffield Hallam University where I was awarded the Year 6 prize for my Thesis project. I have worked at Whittam Cox Architects for 4 years now, and my architectural interests lie somewhere between creating meaningful and inspiring spaces for people and exploring the harmonies between both natural and built environments. Outside of work, I enjoy playing golf (badly), rugby, and going on holiday.

Set within Sheffield’s Effingham Street gasworks, Fluid Lives explores the possibilities of an unmaintained world; an eventuality circa 2050 where botany, design and architecture meet outside of the technical frame of sustainability and the comfortable setting of the bucolic.

The contaminated site, caused by decades of gas storage, decommissioning, and a catastrophic explosion has released toxic substances and byproducts. Through processes of 3D-printing, a network of bio-cement towers remediates the land into a biodiverse wetland; aiding an extension upon the existing ecologies and habitats along the River Don and Canal. Humans assist this process; undergoing study in labs, observing from the lodge retreats, and informed in the event space.
