Creating an environment which promotes autonomy and independence in those with dementia
I have recently completed my BArch (Hons) Bachelor of Architecture with Honours degree at the University of Lincoln and joined the practice as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant in June. Outside of architecture I like to spend my free time practising golf, taking my two dogs on long walks and going travelling.

Age UK Hamerton Haven
This project, Age UK Dementia-Friendly Facility, primarily focuses on creating an environment which promotes autonomy and independence in those with dementia through encouraging engagement with nature, providing accessible environments, wider community connections, access to amenities and suitable wayfinding measures.
On-site sits a café, an Age UK charity shop / convenience store and a pharmacy along with seven flats and communal zone which residents can roam freely.
On the first floor sits an open plan office space designed to facilitate 35 workers to continue the outreach and functioning of the Age UK charity. Materials utilised throughout the design include rammed earth walls and an undulating glulam structural frame to ensure a safe connection with nature is formed whether inside or outside.
