I'm Marcus and I currently work in the retail team at Whittam Cox Architects. I am studying at Sheffield Hallam University and I am in 6th Year, so my final year. I am a keen hiker and enjoy walking in the Lake and Peak District National Parks. This keen interest in the outdoors also manifests itself in my passion for all things sustainable. Be it sustainable design, sustainable transport methods or pro-environment politics. This project focuses on creating a Vertical Airport for electrified passenger drones, with the main hub located over the Sheffield train station connecting the two parts of the city with this Pedestrian Bridge. A Limited Liability company will be set up between South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) with a 40% stake and Uber Elevate with a 60% stake. The Verti-Bridge will be comprised of waiting rooms, retail kiosks, restaurant space, bar space, Uber Elevate office space, an air traffic control centre, staff welfare, landing pads, commercial plant rooms, charging infrastructure and a new public realm. It will be constructed using low-carbon building materials, for instance, CLT, glulam, wood fibre insulation and recycled aggregate concrete.
